Compare system boiler options designed to work with a separate hot-water cylinder. Learn how a system boiler works, who it may suit and which listed models match different heating requirements.
Review six system boiler options from Navien, Ideal, Vokera, Glow-worm and Baxi. Compare heating output, radiator suitability, warranty information and dimensions before requesting a property-specific quotation.
A system boiler provides central heating and heats water stored in a separate hot-water cylinder. Many of the main heating components, such as the pump and expansion vessel, are built into the boiler, helping create a neater system than a traditional open-vent arrangement.
Because hot water is stored in a cylinder, a correctly designed system can support several taps or showers more effectively than an on-demand combi setup. The boiler output, cylinder capacity and system design must still be matched to the household.
Ask About System BoilersThese are general indicators. Final suitability depends on the existing system, heat loss, hot-water needs and installation assessment.
Properties where more than one tap or shower may be used at the same time.
Larger households that benefit from storing hot water ready for use.
Homes with a suitable airing cupboard or other location for a hot-water cylinder.
Like-for-like replacement may reduce unnecessary changes, subject to assessment.
Presenting both sides helps customers make a better-informed enquiry instead of choosing from price or output alone.
Tell us about your property, bathrooms, radiator count, current boiler and existing hot-water cylinder. The Boiler Quote form will open with System already selected.
The form should also ask whether a hot-water cylinder is already installed, its approximate age and whether the customer wants to retain or replace it.
The form receives the boiler type and, where applicable, the selected brand and model.
Page-specific questions collect the information needed to assess suitability.
Name, phone, email, postcode and preferred installation timing are collected.
A successful submission opens the Boiler Quote confirmation page and alerts Heating City.
Contextual internal links help customers and search engines understand the relationship between Heating City's boiler categories.

View Electric Boilers →A system boiler stores hot water in a separate cylinder, while a combi normally heats hot water on demand without a cylinder.
It can be a strong option for homes with more than one bathroom, but the cylinder size, boiler output and expected simultaneous use must be assessed.
A sealed system normally does not need a feed-and-expansion tank in the loft, although the exact cylinder and system arrangement should be confirmed.
A conversion may be possible, but pipework, water pressure, cylinder type and controls need to be reviewed before quoting.
The final quotation depends on the selected boiler, the condition and capacity of the hot-water cylinder, controls, pipework, system cleaning and any additional installation work identified during assessment.
Choose a listed model or select Help Me Choose. The quote form will preserve System as the selected boiler type.
